How do I measure learning before and after a training?

Use one quiz, run twice. In QG Playground, build a short quiz of 10 to 20 questions that covers the training's goals, and tag each question with a skill category, or let Granny write and tag it. Run it before the session as a pre-test, live at the start or scheduled a few days earlier, to capture a baseline. During the training, add knowledge checks of three to five questions after each module. Run the same quiz again at the end as the post-test, and optionally a few weeks later to check retention. Because it's the same quiz, the report compares the first run with the latest: movement per category, a before-and-after table for everyone who took both, and a heatmap of who is still below the bar. Collect employee IDs so people are matched across runs. Skill analytics and player details are on Pro Plus.

One quiz, run twice, with checks in between.

  1. 10 to 20 questions on the training's goals, each tagged with a skill. Granny can write and tag them.

  2. Live at the start, or scheduled a few days before, to capture a baseline.

  3. Three to five questions after each module, answered on phones in about two minutes.

  4. The same quiz at the end, and again weeks later. The report shows the movement.

Ten questions for a customer service training, each tagged to a skill so the post-test can show movement. Swap in your own topic, or ask Granny to write one from your training material.

Read the movement, skill by skill.

Because it's the same quiz, the report compares the first run with the latest, for the group and for each person.

  • Movement per skill category
  • A before-and-after table for everyone who took both
  • A heatmap of who is still below the bar
  • A PDF for leadership, or a personal report by email

Questions people ask

Can't find it? The help centre has step-by-step answers.

Should the pre-test and post-test be identical?
Using the same questions gives the cleanest comparison. With a question bank, each person gets a balanced set from the same pool.
How long should a pre-training quiz be?
10 to 20 questions is usually enough to show movement without tiring people.
Should knowledge checks be scored?
A light score and a leaderboard help the energy. Switch the leaderboard off for a calmer check.
Can people who missed the session take the check later?
Yes. Schedule the same quiz with a time window, on Pro and above.
Can I show results to the learners?
Yes. Email each person their own report, or show the leaderboard live.
Which plan do I need?
Pre and post tests run on any plan. Skill categories, the before-and-after comparison and player details are on Pro Plus.
