Data Deletion Policy

If you have a QG Playground account, you can delete it and all of its data right away:

1. Log in to your account.
2. Go to Account.
3. Open the Danger zone and choose Delete account.
4. Type DELETE to confirm.

This permanently removes your account, all your quizzes and questions, every session and its player records, invites, and uploaded images. It happens immediately and cannot be undone. The formal policy below explains your rights, timelines, and the narrow categories of data we are legally required to retain.

You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data held by Quiz Granny. This right is recognised under:

• the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) (“DPDPA 2023”) — which grants Data Principals the right to erasure of personal data that is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected;
• the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) — Article 17 (Right to Erasure / “Right to be Forgotten”);
• the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018; and
• the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) — the right to delete personal information.

Quiz Granny will honor all verifiable deletion requests within 30 calendar days of receipt, except where a legal basis exists requiring continued retention of the data (see Section 5). Where a request is complex or involves a large volume of data, we may extend this period by a further 30 days and will notify you of the extension before the initial 30-day period expires.

You may submit a deletion request at any time, regardless of whether your Account is active, inactive, or already cancelled. Deletion of your personal data is free of charge.

The data Quiz Granny holds about you depends on how you have used the Platform:

3.1 What to include in your email request

• your full name as registered on your Account;
• the email address associated with your Account;
• the nature of your request (full Account deletion, deletion of specific data categories, or deletion of Participant data from a specific session);
• if you are a Participant requesting deletion of session data: the approximate date of the session, the room code or host’s name if known, and the display name you used; and
• if you are making the request on behalf of another individual (for example, as a parent or guardian of a minor, or as an authorized representative): evidence of your authority to act on that person’s behalf.

3.2 Identity verification

To protect your personal data, Quiz Granny may ask you to verify your identity before processing a deletion request. For registered Users, we will typically verify your identity by confirming that the request was sent from the email address registered on your Account. For Participants without a registered Account, we may ask for additional information to verify that you are the individual to whom the data relates. Where we cannot verify your identity to a reasonable standard, we reserve the right to decline the request and will explain why.

Quiz Granny is subject to legal obligations that require us to retain certain categories of data for specified periods, even after you have submitted a deletion request. These obligations take precedence over your right to deletion in respect of the specific data concerned.

Where we are required to retain data following a deletion request, we will notify you of the categories of data retained, the legal basis for retention, and the period for which it will be retained. We will take reasonable steps to limit access to retained data and to pseudonymize it where technically feasible.

Participants (audience members) who join a session via qgplayground.com/join without registering an Account may also request deletion of their personal data:

6.1 Data held by Quiz Granny

Quiz Granny holds Participant data at the Platform level, including display names, session responses, scores, and (where the Host has enabled player data collection) email addresses or mobile numbers voluntarily provided by the Participant. Participants may request deletion of this data by contacting quizgranny@gmail.com with the details specified in Section 3.1. We process verifiable Participant deletion requests within 30 calendar days.

6.2 Data held by the Host

Where a Host has downloaded or exported session results (including Participant responses, scores, and leaderboard data) via the CSV export feature or otherwise, that data is held by the Host independently of Quiz Granny’s systems. Quiz Granny is not able to delete data that has been exported and is now under the Host’s control. Participants who wish to have such data deleted should contact the Host directly. The Host, as data fiduciary or controller in respect of that data, is responsible for responding to such requests in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

6.3 Anonymous participation

Where a Participant joined a session without providing identifying details, their responses are associated only with a temporary session identity and are not linked to any identifiable individual. Such data is not personal data and is therefore not subject to deletion obligations. If you joined anonymously and believe data held by Quiz Granny can nonetheless be linked to you, contact quizgranny@gmail.com and we will investigate.

6.4 Cookie data

Session tokens used to maintain a Participant’s connection during a quiz and to prevent duplicate vote submission are cleared with your browser session or site data. No persistent tracking cookies are placed on Participants’ devices without consent. See the Cookie Policy.

Where a Customer has purchased multiple licenses for team members, the Customer may request deletion of a team member’s Account and data by contacting quizgranny@gmail.com. By submitting such a request, the Customer confirms that it has the authority and all necessary rights and consents to request deletion on the team member’s behalf.

Where a team member’s Account has become independent of the organization, the individual must submit any subsequent deletion request directly to Quiz Granny using the process in Section 3. Organizations are responsible for ensuring any deletion they request is carried out in compliance with applicable data protection laws and, where required, with the individual’s knowledge and consent.

Quiz Granny uses trusted third-party service providers (“sub-processors”) to deliver the Platform. When we process a deletion request, we instruct our sub-processors to delete or anonymize your personal data in accordance with our data processing agreements and within the timelines in this Policy:

Deleting your Account terminates your license to use QG Playground with immediate effect. You will lose access to all Platform features, including any active or scheduled sessions.

Account deletion is distinct from subscription cancellation. If you delete your Account while a paid subscription is active:

• your subscription will be terminated immediately;
• no refund will be issued for the remaining portion of the current billing period, as subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period has commenced (see the Refund and Cancellation Policy); and
• any active autopay mandate (UPI AutoPay, e-mandate, or card) will be cancelled.

If you wish to cancel your subscription and retain your data within Free Version limits, cancel the subscription (Account → Plan → Cancel subscription) rather than deleting your account.

Quiz Granny will respond to all data rights requests within 30 calendar days of receipt. Requests are free of charge, except where manifestly unfounded, repetitive, or excessive, in which case a reasonable administrative fee may apply.

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), Quiz Granny has appointed a Grievance Officer to handle complaints and data rights requests from Data Principals located in India:

If you are not satisfied with the resolution provided by the Grievance Officer, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India once duly constituted under the DPDPA 2023.

Quiz Granny may update this Data Deletion Policy from time to time to reflect changes in applicable law, Platform features, or our data management practices. The current version will always be available at qgplayground.com/deletion. Where a change is material, Quiz Granny will notify registered Users by email to their registered Account address or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform at least fourteen (14) days before the change takes effect.
